You have to have been in my shoes to understand the fear I was in when he came home to find a strange girl in his house. "He was not supposedto be back by this time" not that I would know, but I've been in this positionbefore and it was the worst time of my life, it was a time I would never forget, having barelyescapedit, I wasn't going to return to it. But here I was, repeating the same mistake. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" he asked, I just stared blankly at him. "You better answer me or I'm calling the cops" I'm sure he noticed that got my attention "How did you get in here? what.... That's it I'm calling the cops" he walked up to the phone, picked up the receiver and started to dial. God damn it, all he wanted was to come home and rest having had a battle of words with his father, they never agreed on anything and it alwaysresorted to a screaming match. but coming home to find this girl who only God knows where she came from in his house had been the height of it. "Please don't call the cops, I didn't steal anything" it was only a whisperbut he heard it, turning he looked at her and said "I'll ask one more time, Who are you and how did you get in here?" "I'm sorry, I.....I came in through the window, I didn't take anything, I...just wanted to take some of your food and....... I'm sorry" That was all she could manage, at this point it was either the truth or jail. His gaze was fixed on hers, he had asked for the truth and there he had it. "You can go", he said "and don't try breaking into a person's house again causes they won'tbe nice enough to let you go". That was her escape pass, she quickly carried her things and was at the door when she heard him ask "Did you eat enough? If you want more you could take some with you" He had already had a bad day, but he sure as hell wasn't going to be a dick to a homeless girl. She never turned to face him "No thank you" and with that she left.
All Chloecould do was thank heaven she was out safely and as she stared into space an image of the event that changed her life flashed into her mind leaving her scared for her life and in tears "history can't repeat itself" If only she knew wrongshe was.
